Can investors save the world?
Investors are pummelled by stakeholders on all fronts. We expect them to dump fossil fuels, achieve net zero, create a nature-positive future and work towards a better humanity for all through social sustainability and ESG. But is this realistic? And can major investors shapeshift from a profit-first mentality to something that takes heed of the planet and humanity’s needs? And if the tech we need to save the planet is already here, why haven’t the investors all jumped in? And how are they dealing with the pushback from conservative authorities to stay invested in coal and oil?
