The Infrastructure Sustainability Council has appointed Toby Kent as its next chief executive. He will fill the seat vacated by Ainsley Simpson, who departed in February to become the inaugural chief of Seamless, a circular fashion association.
Prior to his new role, Kent was a partner in energy transition for two years at PWC and more than five years as chief resilience officer for City of Melbourne as part of the Rockefeller Foundation’s 100 Resilient Cities program. He also spent two years as the global head of sustainable development at ANZ Bank.
Architectus appointment marks the start of a new studio
Architectus’ national leader of resilience and renewal Alex Lawlor has moved to Canberra to lead its new studio.
Lawlor was recently recognised as one of GBCA’s 2024 Green Star Champion for delivering the firm’s sustainability and resilience framework and leading the company’s annual design charrettes.
The firm’s chief executive Ray Brown said Lawlor’s ESG expertise and extensive experience meant she was perfect for the role. Brown also said: “Of all Australian capitals, Canberra has a unique layering of heritage, master plans, planning controls and development criteria that presents exciting opportunities —the kind of design-driven, sustainable, human-centric spaces that our practice is known for.”
Lawlor currently sits as a member of the GBCA’s industry advisory group, a committee member of the Facility Management Association of Australia, and a working group member of the Australian Sustainable Built & Environment Council and TEN Women.
Plenti new CEO
Fintech company Plenti has appointed Adam Bennett as its new chief executive. Bennett replaces co-founder Daniel Foggo, who will retire as chief after ten years at the helm, Foggo will remain a director and significant shareholder of the organisation to support the incoming chief.
Bennett was previously the inaugural chief of NSW Land Registry Services following its $2.6 billion privatisation. Bennett has held the role of chief information officer, executive general manager of strategy execution and executive general manager of digital and direct banking at NAB.
