NZ workplace design firm W+M welcomes senior talent in Syd office
One of NZ’s top architecture firms Warren and Mahoney (W+M) has hired Petra Bonamy in its Sydney studio as a senior associate and workplace specialist.
Bonamy was previously at Woods Bagot for eight years, and has two decades of experience specialising in workplace design and strategy. She has led some high-profile workplace projects in Australia, including for brands such as NAB, Property NSW and Macquarie Bank.
Tamara White, W+M principal and workplace sector lead, said Bonamy was hired due to her talent, and that the company is keen to support women and working parents.
“Petra is an accomplished designer. Her skills lie in understanding a client’s vision and providing tailored solutions that are inspiring, innovative and pragmatic,” White said.
Bohemy said: “I’m particularly drawn to workplace design and strategy, and I’m motivated by how good design can entirely revitalise how people experience a space.
“The firm also offers flexibility to support me as a proud working parent of four, and I am passionate about championing more diverse workplaces in every sense.”
This comes following sustained growth in the workplace design sector.
The firm recently won the 2022 INDE.Awards Work Space award recognition for the design of Google Aotearoa, Google’s new office in Auckland which opened last year in honour of its 15th year in the land of the long white cloud.

Williamson became principal in 2020, and is now a partner alongside James Loder and Mathew van Kooy, who joined in 2020.

New chief executive for Envirobank Recycling
Adam Moody has joined Narelle Anderson and the team at Envirobank Recycling as chief executive officer. He was previously the commercial retail manager at Scentre Group, which owns and operates Westfield in Australia and New Zealand.
The waste company works on recycling programs that incentivise container deposits through 10 cent refunds.
Hassell team is expanding
Interesting to see Samantha Peart, who racked up quite some recognition at her previous gig at Development Victoria and before that at Arup, is now spruiking a significant scaling up of sustainability talent at her new gig at Hassell.
The team is looking to expand by eight leaders in sustainability and regenerative design.
Of course that’s the wish list, and one that we bet would be replicated at least in part by a great number of businesses if they could. There is no doubt the war for talent has intensified in recent times, no doubt fuelled by LinkedIn easy-poaching facilitation on the one hand and on the other the big growth spurt in sustainability that clearly is fuelling many businesses.
