Architectus has announced four new leadership appointments and 55 promotions in its nationwide offices.

The expansion follows the firm’s merger with architecture and design practice Conrad Gargett in April 2023.

Appointments include:

  • Basil Richardson in Sydney as principal, education. He previously worked for Fitzpatrick + Partners and Bates Smart
  • Terry Braddock in Brisbane office as principal, moving from BVN as a senior practice director
  • Rebecca Daff in Melbourne as principal, interior architecture, previously at Peckvonhartel as practice director and Futurespace, Geyer, and Parker Design
  • Sannah McColl, previously a principal at Lyons and NTC Architects and Lendlease

Architectus chief executive Ray Brown said the expansion in sector leadership meant the firm could scale up its design, delivery, new business, and corporate support operations.”

NRG-ONE

NRG-ONE, a new carbon and energy management company, has appointed Carl Duncan as its new chief executive.

Duncan previously worked for Teys Australia as the chief sustainability officer and group manager of resource efficiency and sustainability for seven years.

He is also a current member of the sustainability steering group for the Australian Beef Sustainability Framework, the non-executive director and co-founder of Beam Energy Labs, and the founder and director of Smart Business Hub.

ALGA

The Australian Local Government Association has appointed former senior federal public servant Amy Crawford as its new chief executive.

Crawford was previously a senior advisor to local government and regional development minister Kristy McBain. She was also the director for regionalisation and drought at the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications, as well as director of social policy and indigenous affairs in the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet before her tenure with McBain.

“I have always admired the drive of local governments to deliver for their communities, and I look forward to using my knowledge of cross-government programs and negotiations to deliver for members,” Crawford said.

Crawford replaces Matt Pinnegar who took up the role in May 2021.

NSW DPE

The NSW Department of Planning and Environment has appointed Chelsey Blondel as a new senior planning policy officer in the regional conservation planning team.

She was previously a senior consultant for sustainability and climate change at KPMG Australia and strategic coordinator for regenerative design, climate change and sustainability at Mott MacDonald.

ESR Australia to partner with Solar Bay

ESR Australia has partnered with renewable energy operators Solar Bay to deliver renewable energy solutions to its assets. The deal is to deploy $500 million over the next 10 years to deliver 50 megawatts of solar panels, 300 megawatts of battery storage capacity and EV charging infrastructure across ESR-managed assets in Australia. The company estimates that up to 125,000 solar panels would be installed to achieve its target.

Bentley Systems

Infrastructure engineering software company Bentley Systems has appointed Robert Malkin as its senior regional director of Australia and New Zealand (ANZ).

Malkin was previously the vice-president of Mural – a visual collaboration company.

He succeeds Fergus Dunn, who will move to become the senior director of business development at the company.

Kaushik Chakraborty, senior vice president and regional executive of the Asia Pacific at Bentley Systems said the company was at a “pivotal moment” where it needs to advance the use of digital technologies and sustainable practices including in “intelligent digital twin solutions”.

ADP Consulting

ADP Consulting has appointed Will Chapman as the inaugural leader of its Adelaide office and the director of ADP’s national executive leadership group.

He previously worked on some of Adelaide’s most significant education and sporting projects including the Flinders University Health Medical Research Building, Adelaide Botanic High School Expansion and Adelaide Oval Redevelopment.

Successful applicants will help manage and pursue the company’s sustainability goals and strategies by collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. They will also manage the environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) framework, benchmarks, and target setting.

Snowy Hydro, the organisation behind the Snowy Mountains Scheme, is hiring again, and this time looking for a senior environment advisor to be based in Cooma, New South Wales.

Successful applicants will support the organisation’s existing thermal generation and renewable hydro, wind, and solar assets and assist in the transition to new fuels such as hydrogen as technology develops.
