In brief: Canberra has expanded its energy efficiency scheme to include new rebates of up to $5000 to encourage households to replace their central ducted gas heater with more efficient central electric reverse cycle air conditioner.
The scheme will expand to include more low-income households, residential insulation and business heating and cooling and new insulation activities.
It will also enable the government to pursue future “innovative initiatives” in the transport sector.
