eWater Systems
Non-chemical disinfectants and sanitisers producer eWater Systems has shored up new partnerships with iconic organisations such as Canva, Commonwealth Bank (CBA), Google and Taronga Zoo for its products that eliminate toxic chemicals such as PFAS in their use.
The Australian-owned company uses on-site generators to generate an unlimited supply of TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration)-approved using water, salt and electricity.
Founder Phil Gregory said “Canva were initially introduced to eWater by celebrity chef Matt Stone, who has been a staunch eWater advocate throughout his career,” Phil said. “Then other supporters like David Speck from Universal Foodservice Designs followed in support.
“The team at Canva place a huge emphasis on staff well-being and sustainability and investing in eWater creates a safer more sustainable workplace by reduce their chemical use throughout their offices and kitchens. eWater is a logical fit, and we’re now delighted to have Canva as eWater advocates.”
Canva’s executive chef, Mark Hanover said the collaboration helped reduced chemicals going into the environment.
“I spent many years using hot soap and chemicals in all kitchens I have worked in, so to be honest I was a bit sceptical when we started as I imagine many are. Once we decided to install it and were fully committed, I was impressed at how well it worked.
“When the kitchen is fully cleaned with eWater it does have a very clean but neutral smell and that’s nice. Also, it’s nice to have a non-chemical cleaner and sanitiser in spray bottles to use throughout the day around food as we prep.”
IEEFA
The Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis has released a commentary by debt markets energy finance analyst Hazel Ilango, saying that bond market participants who value stability should start paying attention to climate-related risks.
The comment was spruiked on by messages from the Global Head of ESG in Credit at S&P Global Ratings, Pierre Georges, who believed that climate-related risks will potentially affect creditworthiness and its impact are expected to accumulate over time.
Two other firms, Fitch Ratings and Moody’s Investors Services, also report similar statistics, with oil, gas, automobile manufacturers, utilities, and power generation most likely to take the hit with a 31 to 54 per cent downgrade risk, with a further 2 to 20 per cent risk from disorderly transition.
The IEEFA March report claims that multi-notch downgrades and trigger sweeping bond sell-offs is imminent as a result.

CPB Contractors
On an uplifting note, 13 women have recently graduated from the CPB Contractors’ “Women in construction” paid training program.
The program is believed to be the first of its kind and will fast-track women interested in working in construction into a guaranteed job on a major Sydney infrastructure project.
The graduates have been sent to work on projects such as M6 Stage 1 freeway, Sydney Metro West and the Sydney Metro, Western Sydney Airport.
The program is currently in its second year and received 794 applicants, many of whom are women seeking a career change from retail, hospitality, cleaning, aged care, and tourism.
CPB Contractors’ chief operating officer, Don Johnson, said, “The need for more skilled workers is an industry-wide issue bigger than any one contractor, and we are seeing a lot of success with training programs like this.
“Women have been under-represented in the sector. This program is about creating a more equitable construction industry and delivering real jobs and opportunities to more people. As the demand for construction continues to grow, particularly with a focus on affordable housing and Australia’s transition to renewable energy, we need to provide clear career pathways that make construction more accessible,” he said.
Jobs
Meanwhile, applications for CPB’s environment and sustainability graduate program for the 2024 CIMIC group are now open.
Graduates of an environmental science or sustainability-related discipline will be embedded in the company’s business unit with the possibility of a career in environmental management.
Successful applicants will be responsible for supporting environmental and sustainability management plans, promoting sustainability initiatives, ensuring key managers are informed on related legislations and assisting with internal and external audits to ensure compliance with environmental requirements.
